Beachfront Nowhere

Two bit town, beachfront nowhere.
Badges gouged out from a Beamer.
You can't trust them with glass bus stops anymore.
National parks run by cicadas,
Abandoned shopping trolley graveyards,
Dirt bike tracks and private school boys punching cones.
But the boys will never change their minds.
I hear the sirens scream each night.
Collective broken dreams collide.
A hungry shadow eats then dies.
I never prayed for peace,
I need a swift release.
But the boys will never change their minds.

I was raised by a television.
I watched Alien way too young.
I hit my head, I was running from a shadow.
The younger kids said I was a coward.
Creeping around the outside, it whispers through the wind.
It knows my name and I think it's coming back again.
I never liked to let my feelings known.
Then they burst through like a thousand cannon balls.
You light the fuse. Put it out. No.
Why the fuck can't I just do what I'm told?
Bloody Mary, hold my hand one last time.
The ocean is spaying up above me,
So I'll wade water until I'm dry.
